Local Morzine Mountain biking at last!

Morzine mountain biking at last. A few other locals and myself finally got some local MTB riding done on the Super Morzine sunny side of the valley (I’m not counting the snow biking some of the lads were doing over the winter).

Road Cycling - Training for the Etape du Tour Sportive

Still nothing much doing on the mountain bike front here in Morzine. The weather has been a little wild and changeable, rain and cold one day and then blazing sun and 25 degree highs the next day. Plus with the masses of snow we’ve had over the winter, most of the local trails are not on the agenda just yet. It changes fast though, a few dry hot days and it’ll be time to try some of the south facing runs on the Super Morzine side of the valley.

30cm of Snow Skiing yes, biking no!

We’ve had 30cm of snow earlier in the week so we were up riding the mountain but it was not on bikes. We always get a really good dump of snow late in the season and most welcome it was too. I’ve let the skiing slip a little of late, it’s all that road cycling I’ve been doing! It did feel great to be back on the skis blasting through the powder though, snow billowing overhead. One more week of the ski season to go, the lifts close on the 22nd of April here and there will be no shortage of snow on the pistes until then.

Mountain biking in Saleve nr Geneva

Mountain biking at last! We had a little holiday from the ski season and headed down to Saleve near Genève for some gravity assisted mountain biking courtesy of the telepherique. Or so we thought, as it happens the cable car is shut on Mondays during April.

Bonus Powder Day

First day of spring and we were up the mountain revelling in 30cm of bonus powder. I love my mountain biking and road biking but a powder day on skis (or snowboard for that matter) is superb.

Random winter stuff

Still not much happening on the mountain biking front, still a month of the winter season to go! But perhaps I can inspire people to go on a little Seleve trip this coming weekend!

First Mountain Bike Ride 2012

That’s my first mountain bike ride of 2012 under my belt. We headed down to Saleve near Geneve yesterday and got some brilliant riding done. The trails were predominantly dry, dusty and full of leaves. We had to cross the odd patch of snow up top but nothing to get to worried about.

Bike Riding at last!

The road bike has been out these last couple of days  in Morzine. Really mild spring like conditions and busy ski slopes led me to venture onto the roads. Handy really as I need to do some training for the Etape du Tour this year. 150Km under my belt in the last two days then which left me a little bandy legged when I did venture back onto skis today.

Still Skiing!

Still no mountain biking for me, it's all about the skiing still. Having said that I did have a marathon bike mechanicing session last week. I now have compression damping in my forks and a non leaky shock on my trail bike. My not for pedalling, gravity assisted machine now has a font brake but no rear, seals required.

Lonely Bikes

Just got back from a little ski session in advance of the half terms crowds who are showing up as I speak! Just caught sight of the bikes hanging rather sadly and un-used of late at the back of the garage (their time will come). For some reason I felt inspired to get one down; did the track stand in the garage thing, bounced up and down a few times etc. Noticed both brakes need a serious bleeding! Got my little bike down (read less travel/lighter duty) and remembered the blown compression cartridge and leaky shock seal as a result of some abuse at my last ride, the Finale Ligure Enduro!
